One of 2023’s biggest highlights has been the substantial growth in invoices in the parks’ companies and entities, which amounted to 28.917 million euros, a 15% increase from 2022. There has also been growth in investment in R&D, reaching 1.701 million euros, 11% more than the previous year, showing robust economic activity.

In 2023, the number of businesses and entities located in APTE’s scientific and technological parks went up to 5,908, marking a growth of 2% from the previous year, and showing the ability to attract and retain innovative entities these ecosystems have.

Employment also reflects the same positive tendency, with a total of 161.435 people working in parks, up 7% from last year. Inside the workplace, the number of people working in R&D was 38.656, which means a 13% increase from 2022. The data reflects not only a rise in employability but also a greater concentration of talent specialising in innovation and tech development.

Another relevant piece of data is the increase in the number of businesses run by women, which reached 803, or 17% of the total companies in the parks, according to the data provided by 43 of them. Not only that, but 1.159 also have equality plans, which represents 22% of the total, according to data from 37 parks.

An additional relevant point for the scientific and technological parks is sectoral diversity. Information, informatics, and telecommunications represent 25% of the activity, followed by engineering, consulting, and assessing at 18%, and medicine and health at 9%.

Those data reflect the dynamism and importance of science and technological parks in the Spanish entrepreneurial and innovative fabric, acting as catalysts of innovation and contributing to the economic and social growth of the country.
