Dolors Márquez, professor at the Faculty, awarded the 7th UAB Teaching Excellence Award

Last Tuesday, April 1, the resolution of the rector of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Javier Lafuente, was made public, awarding the VII Teaching Excellence Award to Dr. Maria Dolors Márquez Cebrián , professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business.

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona grants the Teaching Excellence Award every year with the aim of valuing the teaching activity of the teaching staff and promoting innovation and constant improvement in university teaching. The approach of this award is aimed at identifying and valuing the career of those professors who have developed a particularly remarkable activity in this field.
In this year's edition, the award was given to Dolors Márquez, a professor at our Faculty.
Dolors graduated in Mathematical Sciences from the UAB in 1989, and began teaching at our Faculty in the 1990-91 academic year, as an assistant professor, at the former Escola Universitària d’Estudis Empresarials de Sabadell. In 2002 she obtained her doctorate in mathematics from the UPC, in 2008 she was appointed as a Associate Professor (Professora Titular) and in 2010 she began to carry out most of her teaching activity at the Bellaterra campus, linked to the Department of Economics and Economic History.
Since then, Dolors has been a professor, among others, of Statistics I, Statistics II, Econometrics and Econometrics I, coordinator and responsible for the teaching guide for the subject Statistics II, and has supervised more than 30 Final Degree Thesis. She has also collaborated as a teacher on the Master's Degree in Mathematics for Financial Instruments (UAB), has been a member of 3 Master Thesis committees of the Master's Degree in Creation, Strategy and Management of Companies (UAB) and of 16 committees of the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Statistics and Operations Research UPC-UB. Finally, she has been part of four Doctoral Thesis committees (UAB, UB and UPC).
In addition to her extensive teaching work at the Faculty, Dolors has stood out for her dedication to innovation and teaching quality. In this sense, she has taught teaching training courses, collaborated with several teaching improvement and invocation groups (both UAB and interuniversity), and participated in more than 10 competitive teaching innovation projects.
Dolors Márquez has always been involved, constantly and proactively, in everything that has to do with the improvement of teaching and teaching innovation. She has been and is a reference for innovation and teaching quality in our Faculty, and has also stood out for her institutional commitment, assuming responsibilities such as the management of the Teaching Innovation Unit in Higher Education IDES (2009-12), and the vice-deanship for teaching quality and innovation of the Faculty of Economics and Business (2018-2024).
