The UAB Parc de Recerca has set up the UAB Business Collective to promote the collaboration of companies in the region with the university, through a more agile and closer relationship, and thus improve the transfer of knowledge to society. It is a space of connection to respond to the challenges and needs of companies in three key areas for innovation: research, talent and connection with the surrounding areas.

"The relationship between the university and the business sector is essential to create an innovative environment. We want to strengthen the dialogue between the agents of the Catalan R+D+I ecosystem, consolidating the UAB as a knowledge hub and reinforcing Catalonia's leading role in science and innovation. With the Business Collective we aim to get close to companies and understand their needs. And the importance of this collaboration is not only to develop and apply university research, but also to create long-term collaborations and respond to the talent and innovation needs of companies with the capacities of the University", says Javier Lafuente, rector of the UAB.

To date, 13 companies from various sectors such as pharmaceuticals, environment, consumer goods and mobility are members of the Business Collective: Esteve, Roche, Sener, Idneo, TMB, Ocado Technology, Veolia, Interrol, Tradebe, Wordline, Acciona, Condis and Lidl.

These companies participate in meetings with the rector and vice-rector for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship of the UAB, and in specific events to promote contact with research staff at the university. In addition, they benefit from personalised support to access experts, knowledge, scientific and technical services and research infrastructures on campus, as well as support in finding talent. Since the creation of the Business Collective, 18 innovation challenges have been prepared and 14 UAB research groups with which to collaborate have been identified.
