Open call for grants for students with disabilities and dependencies
The call for grants "Beques Impuls" for the 2024/25 academic year aimed at UAB students with disabilities and in a situation of dependency is now open. These grants are awarded with the ai of making it easier for these student to enter and continue at university.
The Beques Impuls grants are intended to help cover expenses related to personal assistance and mobility of these students. The programme is especially designed for those students who require support to carry out basic day-to-day activities during lectures or who need assistance for commuting, as they have difficulty using public transport independently.
The total allocation for the 2024/25 academic year is 10,000 euros, with a maximum of 3,000 euros per student, which can be used for personal assistance and mobility. The programme covers up to €7.5 per hour for personal assistance and €0.26 per kilometer for travel in the student's own vehicle. It also includes the possibility of covering occasional expenses for adapted taxis, if necessary.
To be eligible, students must be enrolled in official bachelor's or master's degrees at the UAB, and have a recognised disability with a level II or III degree of dependence, according to the Law for the Promotion of Personal Autonomy. In addition, those who have already benefited from this aid in previous years must properly justify the use of the grants received.
Applications can be submitted from 23 October to 7 November 2024. The grants and application form are available at this link and the resolution will be made public in December to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
With this initiative, UAB reaffirms its commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities, making it easier for students with disabilities to overcome economic and social barriers that hinder their access to higher education.
