Lucía Pallarés, student of the UAB, awarded at the 30th Night of Telecommunications and Informatics
The 30th edition of the Night of Telecommunications and Informatics has acknowledged the emerging talent in the technological sector of Lucía Pallarés, student of the UAB, with the Young Talent Award.

Lucía Pallarés, aged 25, stands out in the fields of computer engineering and telecommunications as one of the promising young talents in this sector. Her academic trajectory has been marked by her excellence and international recognition. In 2023 she was selected as one of the 40 students worldwide to receive an SPS Scholarship from the IEEE Signal Processing Society, a prestigious programme that awards students with a strong commitment to education in signal processing and its applications in the real world.
Currently, Pallarés is doing her PhD studies at the UAB under a Joan Oró government grant and which is focused on advanced positioning and navigation systems. Her work aims to combine 5G and 6G signlas with satellite technology to improve the precision, reliability and safety of geolocalisation systems in urban settings, a key field in the development of technologies such as self.-driving vehicles, smart mobility and the telecommunications of the future.
The award conferred onto Lucía Pallarés confirms the importance of giving support to young talent and innovation in the field of information and communication technologies(ICTs), a sector already representing 10% of Catalonia's GDP and with over 16,000 companies, according to data from the Barometre of Catalonia's Technology Sector 2024.
The Night of Telecommunications and Informatics' Young Talent Award given to Lucía Pallarés demonstrates the efforts young researchers make and their impact on the evolution of the technology sector. This event, which took place on 2 April and this year reached its 30th edition, brought together more than 1000 professionals and included renowned figures from the technology sector. Also attending were Albert Dalmau, minister for the Department of Presidency of the Catalan Government; Matías González, secretary general of Telecommunicatons and Ordenance of Audiovisual Communication Services of the Spanish Government; and Jordi Valls, fourth deputy mayor of the Barcelona City Council.
