The traditional Winter Concert will take place next Thursday 19 December at 1:45 p.m. in the Theatre Hall, at the Plaça Cívica. The last concert of the year offered by the UAB, under the name Núvols, will be performed by the university's choir and orchestra.

Imatge concert d'hivern

The start of the concert by the UAB Orchestra, conducted by Jesús Badia, will delight the audience with a classic and cheerful repertoire. The audience will enjoy works by prominent composers such as Beethoven and Camille Saint-Saëns. The UAB Orchestra will begin with Beethoven’s Symphony Nº. 1, a harmonious and lively piece inspired by other masters like Mozart and Haydn. Next, La Romance, one of the five movements from one of Camille Saint-Saëns' most celebrated suites, will be performed. To transition to the UAB Choir, the sweet and refined work of Pietro Mascagni will welcome the audience with L'intermezzo, a piece from the renowned opera Cavalleria rusticana by the same composer.

Additionally, both choir and orchestra will come together to perform the piece that gives the concert its name, Els núvols, a work by composer Carlota Baldrís, created from a poem by Màrius Torres, Catalan doctor and poet. This is a unique opportunity to experience the fusion of the work of two great artists.

This will be followed by the UAB Choir and Chamber Choir, conducted by Poire Vallvé, performing a wide variety of pieces, both traditional ones such as La Gavina by Frederic Sirés and Josep Gustems, and more contemporary ones like The Times They Are a-Changin' by Bob Dylan. Also, Temps, a piece composed by the Choir’s conductor with Vicent Andrés Estellés, will be performed. To conclude this year’s concert, the choir will perform Ride the Chariot, a spiritual by William Henry Smith.

Admission to the concert is free but limited to the venue's capacity. To attend the concert, it is necessary to register in advance via the following form.
