UAB Impuls Scholarships awarded

Last Friday 2 December, the 5th Institutional Day was held in commemoration of the date for people with disabilities, taking emotional health as its main theme, and the occasion was used to award Impuls Scholarships to 10 students from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

The Observatory for Equality together with the UAB Inclusion Service (PIUNE) held the 5th Institutional Day to commemorate the date for people with disabilities, and the Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS), presented its Impuls Scholarships.

Esther Zapater, general secretary of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona presided the event and officially opened the 5th Institutional Day. After that, Maria Prats, director of the Observatory for Equality, explained the details of the 2nd UAB Action Plan on Disability and Inclusion.

UAB students, together with Anna Muro Rodríguez, professor in the Department of Basic, Developmental and Educational Psychology; Judit Oliver, head of PIUNE; Lydia Giménez Llort, professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Legal Medicine and head of Equality Policies in the Faculty of Medicine, then took part in a panel on "Emotional health at the UAB: challenges regarding the current situation."

Jordi Prat, director of the FAS, Esther Zapater and Anabel Galán, vice-rector of students and employability, presented Impuls Scholarships to 10 disabled and dependent UAB students for a total amount of €9,935, with the support of the UAB Social Council.

To close the event, members of Suso Espai put on an artistic performance led by Ariadna Martí. And finally, Ester Zapater, concluded the proceedings with a strong message: "If we've learned anything, it's that #UAB's main asset is the people who get us to keep dreaming big."
