Itinerary

There are two ways of registering:

- Register for the complete Master's degree

- Students who can show that they have passed the postgraduate diploma in Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive-Care Nursing (45 ECTS credits), issued by the UAB can gain access to the Master's degree taking the Master's degree dissertation (15 ECTS credits). 10 places are offered each year.

Specific skills

- Ability to recognize the professional role in an intensive care unit: responsibilities and functions of the nursing profession.

- Ability to provide holistic care considering the physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs of a child experiencing a critical health situation.

- Ability to offer support and comfort to the family of a hospitalized child experiencing an emotional crisis through an individualized care proposal.

- Ability to perform thorough and systematic assessments of a critically ill child, considering physical, emotional, cultural, and social aspects, using a nursing model as a reference.

- Ability to respond to the care needs of children by creating appropriate care plans according to updated scientific knowledge.

- Ability to manage care plans with established levels of quality and safety and the optimal use of existing resources.

- Ability to work in a complex professional context, maintaining respect and privacy for the children being cared for through confidentiality and professional secrecy, considering current legislation and the professional code of ethics.

- Ability to improve nursing care through research in neonatal and pediatric intensive care.

Transferable skills

- Ability to work with the professional team through efficient time management, communication, and professional collaboration, allowing for the improvement of quality standards.

- Ability to express oneself fluently with language appropriate to professional criteria, both orally and in writing.

- Ability to identify and face changes in a complex and uncertain context.

- Ability to autonomously manage learning through the search for expert information that enables the updating and improvement of knowledge.
