PRESENTATION OF THE WINNERS OF THE 2nd EDITION (2017) OF THE "AMIC DE LES BIBLIOTEQUES" AWARD

Manuel García Doncel
Manuel García Doncel, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the UAB and historian of science. He began the UAB Physics library in the mid-1970s and the interest in the History of Physics led him to found the Seminar for the History of Science of the UAB that in 1995 would become the current Center for the History of Science (CEHIC). The contribution to the Science and Technology Library goes back to 1992 and the signing of an Institutional Agreement between the Provincia Tarraconense de la Compañía de Jesús and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, for the transfer of the collection on the history of science of the Centre Borja. The collection, devoted to the history of science has continued to grow and is currently made up of a collection of more than 6000 monographs and 113 journals in paper format and 4696 monographs and 53 journals in microform format, highlighting the Archives for the History of Quantum Physics and the Landmarks of Science series.

José María Veciana Vergés (1932-2009)
Dr. Veciana, PhD in Economic Sciences from the University of Frankfurt-Main and from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, was a professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies of the UAB from 1970 until his retirement, where he was also dean and director of department.
A pioneer in Spain in SME business creation and management studies, its figure is a must-have reference in the field of Entrepreneurship.
The Social Sciences Library received his library from the hands of his family. With this donation we incorporated more than 1,300 monographs of the thematic area of the company and the entrepreneurship as well as an important amount of periodicals. In addition, a part of this donation also went to other libraries of the UAB according to the subject.
COMMUNICATION LIBRARY AND GENERAL NEWSPAPER ARCHIVES
Humberto Luis Rivas Ribeiro (Buenos Aires, 1937-Barcelona, 2009)
Humberto Luis Rivas Ribeiro (Buenos Aires, 1937-Barcelona, 2009), Argentine photographer and professor, was an example for photographers of his generation and later generations. His particular library, donated to the University by his widow, is made up of 664 titles, most of which deal with photography: specialized monographs, anthologies and exhibition catalogs.

Enric Lluch i Martín (1928 – 2012)
Enric Lluch was one of the main introducers of the most innovative methodological currents in Geography. Professor of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona since 1969, he founded the Department of Geography. His main research topics were the evolution of geographical thinking in Catalonia, and especially the territorial division. In addition, he was one of the promoters of the Gran Enciclopèdia Catalana and one of the founders of the Rosa Sensat Teacher-training College.
The UAB Humanities Library has received his library and his personal collection from the hands of his family, which is being cataloged thanks to the collaboration between the Library and the Department of Geography. In this library a whole life devoted to the study and teaching of Geography is condensed.
MAP LIBRARY
Martí Gelabertó Vilagran
Martí Gelabertó Vilagran is a doctor in history from the UAB and has been a professor and researcher in several European universities. His field of study is the religiousness of the different social groups in Catalonia from the 16th and 17th centuries. In July of 2015 he made a donation to the UAB Map Library of a collection of maps from the XVI-XIX centuries that has meant the creation of the Martí Gelabertó Collection of ancient maps.
