The Social and Health volunteer program is recovering its activity after two years of exceptionality due to Covid-19. The program supported the Hospital during the first months of the health crisis but then the activity was greatly affected by the restrictions and it could not return to normal until recently.

This week a new group of volunteers will be inaugurated, which will carry out activities aimed at children and young people on Tuesdays. This new group joins the two groups that existed so far and that visit the hospital on Mondays and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm. Right now, there are about 30 active volunteers, half of whom are Psychology students. With the accession of this new group, the total number of participants is expected to reach up to 40 people.

The task of the volunteer groups consists of carrying out entertainment activities for children and young people who are admitted to the Vall d'Hebron Hospital. Some of the activities that are done are playing board games, painting, or giving them conversation so that they feel entertained and accompanied.

In the coming weeks it is also planned to reactivate the activity at the Sant Pau hospital, where the volunteers will also carry out entertainment activities but, in this case, aimed at the elderly people. Among the organized activities there will be crafts to decorate the space, board games, writing, reading, or conversation, among others.
