Are you interested in synthesising new drugs which can help save lives? Finding new, lighter and more resistant materials with which to build the cars of the future? These are just two of the applications chemistry can have, an almost limitless science and one of the driving forces behind the progress of society. In fact, without chemistry there would be no drugs or plastic, or any of the other products used daily. Therefore, chemistry is not only a science, it also represents an entire industrial sector.
The UAB bachelor's degree in Chemistry will train you in the study of the composition, properties and reactivity of chemical compounds, both from a theoretical and practical perspective. This is why up to 40% of lecture hours take place in the laboratory. Three more important characteristics of this UAB degree are:
- Three specialisations adapted to the evolution of chemistry in the past few years (Chemistry of Materials, Biochemistry and Industrial and Environmental Chemistry) which greatly boost the professional perspectives of our graduates
- A double degree in Chemistry from the UAB and the Thompson Rivers University of Canada
- Simultaneous enrolment in the bachelor's degrees in Physics + Chemistry
Career options
Multiple options in the chemicals industry, both in production and in sales, and in different levels of Public Administration. Also in the education sector.
Chemistry graduates are welcomed on around fifteen research master's programmes in the UAB area and in its public research centres.
