Students must have and understand knowledge of an area of study built on the basis of general secondary education, and while it relies on some advanced textbooks it also includes some aspects coming from the forefront of its field of study.

Students must be capable of applying their knowledge to their work or vocation in a professional way and they should have building arguments and problem resolution skills within their area of study.

Students must be capable of collecting and interpreting relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make statements that reflect social, scientific or ethical relevant issues.

Specific skills

Apply a knowledge of the main theories and approaches worked on in the degree, arguing from distinct perspectives and supporting such arguments through methodologies of analysis, paradigms and concepts pertaining to the Social Sciences.

Interrelate the distinct theories that intervene in the disciplines within the degree and the ideas (legal, political, economic, sociological) that explain the organisation of contemporary societies.

Analyse contemporary diversity taking into account the distinct disciplines in the degree through identifying problems, data collection and analysis, and interpreting results.

Design programmes in distinct disciplines aimed at social improvement, taking into account national and international political actors, the relationships that they establish with political institutions, and the socioeconomic environment of the times.

Evaluate political and socio-economic programmes aimed at improving living conditions in society, taking into account the design, viability and sustainability of the programme.

Raise and solve problems of an economic and social content using mathematical models and econometric modelling programmes, as well as interpreting the solution and evaluating the conclusions obtained.

Express opinions that include an ethical reflection on fundamental social, scientific and economic issues in a context that is representative of both international and local society.
