UAB Cinema Programming

The Cinema has a regular programming of films, documentaries, TV productions, series, thematic seminars and other activities related to the audiovisual industry. The Cinema programming takes place every academic year from September to June.

“Sorry we missed you”, by Ken Loach (2019)
Organized by Department of Sociology
Ricky, Abby, and their two children continue to struggle with the economic problems caused by the 2008 crisis. Abby works caring for the elderly, and her husband moves from job to job. But their life suddenly changes when they are offered the chance to buy a van and turn it into their new job. The couple dives into the world of home deliveries, and gradually, difficulties arise that increasingly bind this family together.

“Once Upon a Time in a Forest", by Virpi Suutari (2024) VOSC

In a forest with a magical and enchanted atmosphere, a group of young people enjoys the wonders of nature as if it were a fairy tale. It is the last coniferous forest in Finland. A space that is in danger due to the actions of the forestry industry in this country. Ida, a twenty-two-year-old young woman, along with her group of friends, becomes the leader of the Forest Movement and fights against these large companies, driven by her love for the forest.

Michel and Marie-Claire have been married for over thirty years. They enjoy a quiet life with their children and grandchildren. Michel has lost his job, but he dedicates himself to political and union struggles. However, the couple’s life will be interrupted when armed men break into their home, beat them, and steal their credit cards.

It’s the year 1921, and F. W. Murnau decides to work with a real vampire, Schreck, for the filming of his new movie "Nosferatu." Murnau tries to control Schreck's needs, also justifying his behavior to the film crew. If the vampire manages to control his impulses, he will receive a great reward: to taste Greta's neck, the film's leading actress.

Sweden, mid-14th century, a knight returns home after ten years of fighting in the Crusades in the Holy Land. During his journey back, Antonio Blovk encounters Death, who claims his soul. Blovk, who is in search of answers, proposes to play a game of chess, in order to gain from her what he is seeking: knowledge about death and the existence of God.
